    The Strategic Management Group

A Strategic Management Group (SMG) is an association of owners/general managers of businesses. They meet on a routine basis for business sessions. The object: to stay abreast of successful business theories and practices. How? By sharing information and working together:

  •         Compare Experiences

  •         Identify Best Practices

  •         Solve Mutual Problems

  •         Innovate Solutions

  •         Learn Together

A camaraderie is developed among the members. They become a day-to-day resource for one another. Each member becomes a teacher in his area of strength and a student in his area of weakness.

The role of Robert Swift & Associates, Inc. is to organize, design and facilitate the meetings. Presenting material is also a major role, especially in the areas of strategy, planning, organization and management control systems.

We prepare instructional materials and agendas. At the discretion of the group, we may also administer a reporting system which allows the members to compare financial and operating statistics as an aid to problem identification and problem solving.

Typical Arrangements

  • Group size of 10 to 12 companies

  • Meet three to four times each year

  • Sessions lasting one and one-half days

  • Meeting locations and dates voted upon by the group

  • A monthly fee covers the cost to prepare and conduct the meetings

  • Members are responsible for their own meals and travel expenses
